Empowerment & Engagement

We believe all young people should have the same opportunities as each other no matter of their circumstances, backgrounds, race, religion or where they live. Empowering young people is the themes that runs through all our programmes.

OWN IT

OWN IT’ is a two year program that aims to bring opportunities to children and young people 7-21 years old in the local communities of Tile Hill,Canley and Kenilworth.

OWN IT provides opportunities for young people in the area to participate in a variety of opportunities including leadership, mentoring, volunteering and sports programs to enable them to develop the skills they need in order to tackle the barriers they face in their community. The young people will also take ownership of the program by being consulted on the barriers and themes the young people feel need addressing in the area. The programme is designed so that through leading, planning and volunteering on projects the young people are then encouraged to take their own social action with support from the project. In order to minimise the issues and barriers that are present in the three local communities.

The delivery of this programme is run by two project Co-ordinators who will ensure a risk assessment, equipment and planning is provided prior to sessions commencing and a team of professional, well-educated staff who are all DBS and first aid trained.

The program will offer engagement sessions within schools, organisations and through community outreach sessions. The session themes include

  • Sports
  • Cooking
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Drama
  • Arts & Crafts

Further to the engagement session we would like to offer opportunities to young people by running leadership programmes.

Programmes include:

  • Leadership Programme
  • Arts Awards
  • Sports Award
  • Business programme
  • Mentoring
  • Volunteering

The young people who enrolled on these courses will then have the opportunities to volunteer and complete work placements where they can implement the skills they have learnt.

Finally the project will support then to develop their own programs and enterprises to give back to the community through events, setting up enterprises and running their own youth provision.

We will support these young people throughout the program and feel that it will help to bring more opportiunites for them but also help to bring the local community together.
